Cold war - Last ten years

When the eighties began the world was in the last part of cold war conflict. After USSR invaded Afghanistan, President Carter (US 39th President), saw that the intention of peace wasnt real.
Ronald Reagan Arrived to US presidency later in 1981 and world attitude changed. But is important to take into account that after Carter's presidency the geopolitics of world changed drastically.
Since that decade US emered as a world power infront all the countries. Japan and China began to position as powerful countries, but only in economy.
United States of America showed its military, diplomatic and economic power to all the world.
Last ten years of cold war showed that global geopolitics had changed and a bipolar world never will emerge again.

*'Both  changes  of  weaponry  and  changes  of  polarity  were  big  ones  with ramifications  that  spread  through  the  system,  yet  they  did  not  transform it. If the system were transformed, international politics would no longer be international  politics,  and  the  past  would  no  longer  serve  as  a  guide  to  the future. We would begin to call international politics by another name, as some  do.  The  terms  “world  politics”  or  “global  politics,”  for  example,  suggest that politics among self-interested states concerned with their security has  been  replaced  by  some  other  kind  of  politics  or  perhaps  by  no  politics  at all'.

Hiroshima Atomic Bomb 66th Anniversary

Today, august 6th is a day that humanity can´t ever forget never. This day (but 66 years ago - 1945) one US war-plane conducted an atomic bomb (nuclear) over Hiroshima, an important and big city in Japan (big population).

Atomic bomb was named "Little Boy" launched over Hiroshima, by orders of President Harry Truman (US). According to the Japanesse government, the day of the bomb in Hiroshima 90.000 to 166.000 people dead in the instant of the bomb.

This bomb was launched the same year that World War II ended. Japan was the last country that left the war. US decide to prepare two atomic bombs to stop Japan, because this country started a pacific offensive and Truman's government thought about the best idea to end the war.

During the Cold war (1945-1989) nuclear weapons were the principal actors. Actually more than 8 countries have their own bombs and others are probably preparing it or looking how to obtain it.

Ollanta Humala, President of Peru

Ollanta Humala is the new President of Peru. He was elected last sunday june 5th in second round and his contender was Keiko Fujimori, Alberto Fujimori's son (Alberto Fujimori is an ex President of Peru who is incarcelated in his country).
This important election from Peru are at a time when Perú is opening its markets to Asia-Pacific and other countries in America.

Humala "won" this Presidential elections with a short difference in the average (2 points).
Humala represents clearly a sector of Peru, but not the whole Country. He was militar.
He is founder member of Peruvian Nationalist Party.
Its important to mention that Ollanta runs for Peruvian Presidency in 2006.
In this moment one of the most important things to take into account is the Foreign Policy of this news President. He didnt accept clearly that he likes Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez, but Humala acts using the same line.
